Your rates

Terminalbash
1aile rates # margin, per-model margins, disabled models, bounds

3aile rates set claude-opus-5 --model-margin 0.8 # a margin for one model
4aile rates clear claude-opus-5 # back to the global margin
5aile rates off claude-opus-5 # stop serving one model
6aile rates on claude-opus-5 # serve it again

Two things to keep straight

Prices are per (sharer, model). Two OpenRouter keys share one price sheet; there is no per-account price on the server, which is why no rates command takes an account number.

aile rates is the opposite of aile price. rates sets what you charge. price quotes what a request would cost you to buy across every sharer. The names are deliberately different.

Margin

Your price is always the model's list price × a margin from 0 to 1:

Terminalbash
1aile rates --margin 0.9 # 10% under list
2aile rates --margin 1 # list price, the most you can charge
3aile rates --margin 0 # free

0 is free, not "unset". There are no dollar prices to type: --in and --out are refused. aile rates prints the default and the allowed range.

The dashboard's Pricing panel shows the same margin as a percent of list: 0% is list, -10% is a margin of 0.9, -100% is free.

Per-model margins

Terminalbash
1aile rates set claude-opus-5 --model-margin 0.8 # this model only
2aile rates clear claude-opus-5 # back to your global margin

A per-model margin tracks list, long-context rates included.

A model with no published list price is not sold, whatever margin you set.

Per-unit models

Images, speech, transcription, video, music, rerank, moderation, OCR, web search and scrape bill per image, 1,000 characters, minute, second, track, search, input, page, query or webpage, at the model's list price per unit × your margin (the model's own, else your global one). They sell by default; turn one off to stop it. A margin of 0 is not offered on these models.

OpenRouter's image-capable chat models (such as google/gemini-3.1-flash-image-preview) share one margin with their per-image row.

They serve only from an API-key account with nodeless on. Embeddings bill per token at your margin. Decisions bill per token at the deployment's default margin, whatever yours is.

Turning a model off

Terminalbash
1aile rates off claude-opus-5
2aile rates on claude-opus-5

Disabled is kept separate from price on the server, so clearing a margin never re-enables a model you turned off. That separation is the whole reason the two are different commands.

On only allows a sale. A model lists once one of your accounts offers it and it passes a test there (Connect an account). The Pricing panel marks a row that is on but not listed with the reason, and counts them as offered, not listed in its header.

What callers do with your price

Sharer selection is price-first. The relay sorts by quoted price ascending, with un-quotable last, and only among sharers quoting the exact same price does a health-weighted draw run.

  • The relay tries a cheaper sharer before you no matter how much faster you are.
  • Being fast and reliable wins you the tie against sharers at your price.
  • Pricing yourself out is quiet. There is no error; requests route elsewhere.

Routing & failover has the full ordering.

What the caller pays, and what you keep

The caller pays list × margin. On the balance-debit path Aile takes a 10% platform fee out of your share, so the caller's price is unchanged.

That fee applies on every settlement. Nothing elects out of it: choosing to be paid in $AILE changes the asset you receive; the rate stays the same. See Money for the full arithmetic, including what happens when a caller pays from a $AILE discount tab.

Check your quote is live

aile sharers --model <m> shows the marketplace as callers see it, priced. If you do not appear where you expect, that listing is the place it will be visible.
